Aswan

A great winter resort  Aswan is situated in Southern Egypt and straddles the Nile.  Interesting sights to visit include:
Mausoleum of Aga Khan: the rsting place of Aga Khan, the interior is al marble
Monastry of St Simeon: originally built on 7th Century and rebuilt in 10th century when Nubians copnverted to Christianity
Abu Simbel Temples: one deicated to rameses II and one to his wife Nefertari.  The temples were moved during the creation of the Aswan Dam.
Temple of the Nobles: This is an area of rock hewn tombs dating from the Old Kingdom to the Romans.  inside the tombs are decorated with vivid paintings of everyday life.
Elephantine Island seperates the Nile into 2 channels and has an interesting museum and ruins of Abu
Aswan Dam: an engineering miracle in the 1960's provides electricity for the whole country.

Dahab

The most famous sites in Dahab are underwater,;
the blue hole part of the Rift valley can be dived from the shore. Others hore dives include the caves to the south, and the bell to the north.
An interesting option are camel / dive trips. To dive sites north of Dahab only accessible by Camel.

Hurghada

If it involves water you can do it here;  windsurfing, diving, deep-sea fishing, snorkelling, swimming. The warm waters provide sanctaury for rare fish and coral reef, all of which cn be viewed from glass bottomed boats if you don't like to get wet.

Luxor

Described as the worlds largest open-air museum here is plenty to see in Luxor
Luxor Temple: which is particularly atmospheric at night
Karnak: A vast complex of temples, obelisks, sphinxes and very hefty Pharaonic paraphernalia, there is a sound and light show on Sundays.
Valley of The Kings: Perhaps Luxors most famous sites, the tombs of Tutankhamun and Ramses VI. They open at 06:00 and are geerally very busy.
Ramesseum: the fallen colossus of Ramses II and and the Temple complex of Medinet Hadu.

Nuweiba

Primarily a dive resort and port you can do dy trips to the coloured canyon, st catherines monastry and Mount Sinai

Sharm El Sheikh

Na'ama Bay: Great beach to relax after sightseing
St catherine's Monastry: In the shadow of Mount Sinai, stands the fortress-like St Catherine's Monastery, established by Emperor Justinian in 527 at the spot where Moses supposedly encountered the burning bush. Inside its high walls is an architectural mishmash of libraries, kitchens and living quarters, and an exquisite church hung with gold lamps and ancient icons and soaked in the scent of incense.
Coloured Canyon: A gorge carved by water through layers of sandstone and limestone over the past 1.5 million years. The result is spectacular, especially at the narrowest section, where the towering rock walls, rosy pink and gold, with streaks and swirls of burgundy, green and yellow, are barely three feet apart and the sky is just a sliver of blue.
