Getting There

By Air

There are daily flights to Maseru from Johannesburg through South African airways. 
Maseru (MSU Moshoeshoe) is 11km from the city. Buses are available to the city.

By Rail

Currently the only rail connection is for freight.

By Road

you can drive into Lesotho from South Africa. These are the border posts and their opening hours:

Caledonspoort (open 24 hours)
Ficksburg Bridge (open 24 hours)
Makhaleng (08:00 – 16:00)
Maseru Bridge (06:00 – 22:00)
Ngoangoana Gate (08:00 – 16:00)
Qacha’s Nek (08:00 – 22:00)
Ramatseliso’s Gate (08:00 – 18:00)
Sani Pass (08:00 – 16:00)
Sephapho’s Gate (08:00 – 16:00)
Van Rooyen’s Gate (06:00 – 22:00)

Some of these roads are 4 x 4 only.

By rail

Lesotho has no internal rail services, by foot or horse are the most common ways for the locals to get about.

By Road

About 20% of the countries roads are tarred, although many areas are still remote and unaccessible. Car hire is available from Maseru, and generlly there are no extra charges if you are bringing a car in from South Africa.  You will need a permit to cross the border.
