The Namibian Dollar is tied to the South African Rand meaning the exchange rate is fixed at 1:1 (at least in Namibia, the rate might be lower in South Africa). The South African Rand is used as a parallel currency in Namibia, which saves you the trouble of exchanging if you are coming from / going to South Africa. You can exchange cash and traveller cheques at banks and foreign exchange bureaus for either Namibian Dollars or South African Rand.
Credit cards are widely accepted, and can be used for cash advance and withdrawals from ATM's without problem.
Banks are usually open Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 13.00 and from 14.30 to 17.00 and Saturdays from 8.00 to 13.00
